The star has handed over the entirety of his £25k Mercury Prize prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to preserve the Britain's small live music spots.
He was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his third album the album was declared the outstanding release of the last 12 months.
He has chosen to donate the funds to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues played in his beginning days.
"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it weren't for all the shows I played around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," stated Sam Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports independent venues.
Sam Fender also participated, generating over £100k on his live tour to support thirty-eight small stages across Britain.
The money supported locations that were confronting imminent closure due to issues caused by flooding, fires and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and sound issues.
Additional spaces received financial assistance in improving amenities and technical equipment that helped musicians and fans.
"The concept that funds from performances in large arenas backs the local stages, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has said.
The musician is among several artists to contribute his award winnings to charitable organizations.
Back when Pulp earned the award in the mid-90s for their release the album, vocalist the singer stated that the act would donate their winnings to the organization the charity.
During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her award across multiple charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.
"And I gave a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they needed updated gear," she shared with a publication.
Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their winnings to the community center that supported their group, as well as other local music groups.
Also the 1994 recipients M People donated their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.
"The victory was ample," stated vocalist the singer. "The money was the extra but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted the lives of others."
Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.
The first in Southampton and The Croft in the city were acquired under the public acquisition scheme, which is backed by a national body and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the properties.
